18.09.08 - HIDE!02 Launch Party!!!

It's been a long time coming, but on the Friday the 10th of October we're finally launching the HIDE!02 release.

The night will be at held at The Espy's Gershwin Room with the likes of Fire Fire!, The Pistoleiros and Winter St. in support of Ruby and Sam. We'll have the release on sale at the venue but with a crowd of 200+ looking more than likely, they won't last long... We want to make this one huge - the room holds 650! - so if you can make it down, be sure to do so. It's $10 to get in and doors open at 8:30!

Just for reference, the HIDE!02 release was recorded live earlier this year at Barzooka in Brunswick. Click here for photos of the night... As per usual, it's a cassette release with mp3s available here on the website.

In other news, our planned HIDE!03 featuring The Asmatics and The Space Cadets has been cancelled due to the latter breaking up after an on-stage brawl... Despite this little set back, we've all but confirmed Yama Boy & Woollen Kits for a recording in January '09. In the meantime we're keen to find a replacement for the Asmatics' release and, as always, looking for others...

That's about it for now, hope to see you on the 10th!

05.03.08 - Recording, delays and big plans...

Once again, it's been a little while since our last update and a lot has happened in between...

Our first event this year was a live recording for what will be HIDE!02. Ruby Rose and Samuel Kingsley graced us with performances at Barzooka on the 27th of January. With Luke from Quiet the Few (they appeared on HIDE!01) supporting the two, the night went swimmingly with around 80 people turning up to show their support - Click here for photos and details!

Delays? Well, other than my MacBook dying, trouble getting hold of gear and nasty tape suppliers making our lives difficult, everything has been just dandy... The HIDE!03 recording (see below) has been delayed twice so far and we still don't have a date for the HIDE!02 release. That said, our main issues have been resolved in the last week so things will be moving shortly!

Our plans are growing as the days pass by... HIDE!03 has been added to the agenda recently and will feature The Asmatics and The Space Cadets. Despite the delays mentioned above, their recording will be happening in a Moonee Ponds garden shed within the next 3 weeks - keep an eye on the events section!

In addition, bear.HIDE! are planning to run a weekly event and HIDE!04 will feature some dirty electro pop and be recorded in my local Laundromat at this stage - probably an after-party at mine too ;)

12.01.08 - We're back! and a with new show in january!

About a month and a half has passed since the last update while Tim and I have been enduring the aptly named "Silly Season"... Now that the bullshit has subsided, we're back to work - and to kick off 2008...

For our first event this year, bear.HIDE! will present the lovely miss Ruby Rose and another friend of ours, monsieur Samuel Kingsley for a quiet Sunday evening later this month.

The event will be held at Barzooka on the 27th of January with a support act still TBA.
The night will be recorded for a future bear.HIDE! release down the track - we're yet to decide which volume number the release will recieve, but if you want to get yourself on tape then come along!

Finally, we're about to anounce a date for another LIVE recording event coming up - so stay tuned!

30.11.07 - updates and technical difficulties!

It's been about 2 weeks since the last update - and a lot has happend...

Firstly, we had the inaugural bear.HIDE! LAUNCH SHOW for HIDE!01 at Gertrudes Bandroom on the 17.11.07. Check out the write-up in the EVENTS section Have a look at a few of the photos from the night in there too! It was a great night and has definately inspired us to continue this crazy little venture...

As for technical difficulties, you may have noticed from the message when entering the site, we had some serious issues with our download system when the files somehow because corrupted. This has been fixed and I'm glad to report we've had more downloads than expected already!

In other news, we've kept a steady rate on the tape sales with about 25 tapes left for each band - which probably isn't that surprising when they're priced at $3! Contact sales@bearhide.org if you want to get your hot little hands on you very own cassette!

Finally, we're about to put another release into the works soon too - so stay tuned for info on what will be HIDE!02!

15.11.07 - bearhide.org is online!

Well, although it's appears to have been designed by a hoard of blind, aesthetically retarded monkies, it works. Unfortunately the two VisCom graduates associated with the project were, quote "too busy" - so I (James) was forced into creating something temporary... I am not a VisCom graduate.

The site will host a few interesting tid-bits for your enjoyment - three areas in particular - so here's a breakdown for ya!

About - A little bit about who we are and what we're trying to do!
Events - Upcoming event info as well as comments and photos from past events!
Volumes - Info on upcoming and past releases. This is where you can download mp3s!

That's all for now - but be sure to check out our very first LAUNCH SHOW for HIDE!01 at Gertrudes Bandroom this Saturday - check out the events section for full details!
